Indiana STC Society for Technical Communication - Indiana Chapter

Volunteer to Help Your Local STC Chapter

imageIndianapolis- Medical, science, and marketing writers, and health care information technologists, will convene in downtown Indianapolis this June at the Documentation and Training Life Sciences Conference (http://www.doctrain.com/life) to explore ways to reduce the amount of time and energy it takes to create the content needed to run pharmaceutical companies, medical device firms, and health and hospital corporations. Attendees will explore solutions to health care information management challenges—everything from speeding the time it takes to get a new drug to market to designing health care websites that cater to an increasingly international audience.

The Indiana Chapter is planning a meeting in coordination with the conference on Tuesday, June 24. This meeting will feature:

* Access to the cocktail reception with appetizers in the exposition hall from 5-7pm—free (music, food, activities, software vendor showcase)
* Meeting space / coffee and snacks/ at the hotel with speaker from conference from 6:30-8:30pm—free
* Planned presentation from Joe Gollner. Read more about Joe at http://www.doctrain.com/life/program_detail/ensuring_information_quality/

Volunteer to Help Your Local STC Chapter
If you enjoy the quality programs put on by your Indiana Chapter STC, you can do your part to keep the momentum going by volunteering. In the coming weeks, the chapter will be holding its annual elections, and we’re seeking volunteers for the following elected positions:

  • Vice President (become President the following year)
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

There are also lots of opportunities for non-elected positions. If you’d like to help shape the topics that the chapter presents on during the program year, volunteer for Programs; our current chair is looking to share the responsibilities. If you’d like to make some connections, volunteer for Membership. If you’d like to expand your skill set in marketing or finance or some other area, let us know. If you’d just like to lend a hand and give yourself a break from your projects for an hour or two a month, drop us a line. We can always find way to utilize talents.
