Nathan Packer - President
Nathan Packer started his education with a B.A. in Biology and that education launched him into veterinary pharmaceutical sales and marketing. To fulfill one of his goals, he returned to the university (mid-career) to complete an M.B.A. In his career, he have served in a variety of marketing and sales positions and has consulted on new product development and marketing projects. During the last six years, he has written numerous documents in support of computer process automation and clinical trial data gathering processes. He has been an STC member for over five years and very much enjoys the association with other STC members.
Amanda Cross - Vice President
Amanda Cross has been a technical writer and STC member in Indiana for seven years. She specializes in software documentation, structured authoring, and XML. Amanda holds a B.S. in Technical Writing from Purdue University.
Amanda wants to see the Indiana Chapter provide real value to technical communicators, starting with forging personal connections among the membership. She believes that these connections can lay the groundwork for innovations in service above and beyond the job leads and continuing education that members already expect and depend on.
Ann Watzel - Secretary
Ann Watzel has a great career in technical communication. With experience in the home building industry, professional theater, and even sales for a Fortune 500 company, she has the wide, varied experience that so many technical communicators have today. Intrigued by computer technology, Ann decided to become technical writer and has in the course of her career validated systems, written user assistance manuals and content, documented SOPs, built B2B systems, and has led user support teams.
Ann graduated from the University of Michigan. She is the Indiana STC Secretary in charge of recording meeting minutes and procedures.
Greg McCormick - Treasurer
Greg McCormick is owner of Cedar Canyon Consulting, located near Fort Wayne. Cedar Canyon specializes in Business Continuity planning, and project management assistance. Greg is a certified project management professional (PMP), a Senior Member of the STC, and adjunct faculty at Indiana Tech. Greg regularly speaks at professional meetings and workshops.
Scott Abel - Webmaster
Scott Abel is a content management strategist and structured content evangelist, whose strengths lie in helping organizations improve the way they author, maintain, publish, and archive their information assets. Scott’s website, TheContentWrangler.com, is a popular online resource for technical writers with an interest in content management. A founding member of Content Management Professionals (CM Pros), Scott currently serves as Executive Director of the organization.
Zev Winicur - Immediate Past President
Zev Winicur is the immediate past president of the Indiana Chapter of STC. Most recently, Zev was a senior research analyst at Strategic Marketing and Research, but his eclectic background includes experience as a proposal writer, Web content manager, and validation technical writer. Zev has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Colordado.
The chapter president heads the administrative council and is responsible for all operations of the chapter. The chapter president is also in the lead outreach representative, and is the central chapter contact for potential and current members, state businesses, and academic institutions.
